Family Insight P.C in collaboration with the Pavilion at Williamsburg Place is offering 1.25 NBCC CEU Hours in Ethical Considerations for Clinical Practice on March 20th 10:00am-11:15am EST, 9am CT, 8am MT, and 7am PT. John Salay, LCSW, Chief Compliance Officer & Director of Advocacy and Development, Family Insight P.C will be the presenter. Summary

In this brief session the participants will be introduced to the key elements of the points listed in the learning objectives.  The emphasis is on what matters the most in day-to-day clinical practice with the most common issues that come up.  These are often confusing to practitioners and are therefore frequently mishandled.

Learning Objectives

* Describe principles of privilege, HIPPA, state, laws, and subpoenas related to record access.

* Describe concepts related to consent for treatment for youth.

* Identify aspects and considerations for writing clinical progress notes.

* Describe implications of licensing board’s ethical expectations related to scope of practice and appropriate documentation and grievance resolution.

Information on the Presenter:

John Salay, LCSW is a VCU graduate with a B.S in Chemistry and Master’s in Social Work.  John’s first act in the field of social work was to help change state legislation in Virginia to make counseling more accessible to underserved populations. He continues to advocate on behalf of the underserved with both lawmakers and senior decision makers. John has extensive experience with community mental health services and has conducted thousands of therapy sessions and assessments for individuals, families, and groups. He has a keen sense of effective, evidence-based practice.
