We are excited to announce that a Virginia-specific graduation celebration is being developed by Governor Ralph Northam and First Lady Pamela Northam in partnership with Virginia Public Media. “Virginia Graduates Together” will premiere on May 29 at 5pm on Virginia PBS stations and Facebook LIVE. During this 30-minute program broadcast we will feature the accomplishments and experiences of Virginia’s remarkable class.
We need your help to create this statewide tribute to the Class of 2020.
Share Graduation Videos
Please share a link to any video your institution has created to celebrate the class of 2020. Email vagrad@vpm.org, Subject Line: [School Name] – Virginia Graduates. By sending these videos, you are granting VPM the right to use them in the broadcast and streaming.
Share Social Posts
We’d also like to share how students are celebrating from home — whether it’s a selfie in their cap and gown or a Tik Tok video receiving a diploma from their parents. Please encourage your students to use #GraduateTogetherVA in their social posts and with their permission they could be in the broadcast.
Statewide Student Speech
We are in the process of editing together a speech of valedictorians, student body presidents, or other special students who would have spoken at their graduation ceremonies. We would like them to record a cellphone video of themselves completing the following sentence:
“My hopes and dreams for the Class of 2020 are [ finish sentence ].”
Help us by identifying those students and ask them to email vagrad@vpm.org, Subject Line: [School Name], [First & Last Name], Hopes & Dreams Speech
Thank you for participating in this special broadcast version of graduation. While we wish it could be in person, we do hope to honor the Class of 2020 through Virginia Graduates Together. If you have any questions about the broadcast, videos or social media posts please email vagrad@vpm.org.
