Basic Membership Requirements

Associations, corporations, foundations or other organizations in Virginia are eligible for membership in VCPE if they:

  • Affiliate with, operate, or represent private schools, other than colleges and universities,
  • Subscribe to a policy of admission of students without regard to race, color, or national origin; and
  • Operate not for profit and exclusively for charitable, scientific, or educational purposes.

Applicants for membership to VCPE must submit a (documents may be submitted by email to office@vcpe.org)

  1. Membership Application (please email office@vcpe.org for membership application)
  2. Copy of the association’s action or resolution requesting membership in VCPE,
  3. Copies of original documents verifying that the requirements of VCPE membership outlined above are adequately addressed by the organization, and
  4. Check made payable to VCPE for a nonrefundable application fee of $500 (accrediting member) or $300 (non-accrediting member), mailed to the address below.

The Membership Application serves as an assurance that it is the association’s intention, upon being granted approval as a member of VCPE by 3/4 vote of the Members of the Board of Directors, to agree to the following:

  • Completion and return of the annual report in a timely manner;
  • Inclusion of the names of schools dropped or added during the year of the annual report, as requested;
  • Immediate notification to the VCPE office of the accreditation of a new school(s), or loss of accreditation of a current school(s) (This item is required only of associations with approval for accrediting processes.);
  • Regular representation at VCPE meetings; and
  • Timely payment of annual VCPE dues.
